Paper 01 - Research Report for Skills Wastage - Apprenticeships

The purpose of this research report is to identify and analyse key trends and issues pertaining to the high attrition rate of apprentices in the Electrotechnology trades. This will inform the workforce development strategies targeted at improving retention of apprentices in the trades and ultimately reduce skills wastage in the industry. Recommendations on how to address the workforce issues are highlighted in this report for consideration by the Industry. This research was conducted in partnership with the Queensland Government Department of Education and Training.

Paper 02 - Research Report for Skills Planning and Apprenticeship Training Management - North Queensland Electrotechnology Industry

The purpose of this research report is to understand the future demand for skills and gap training over the next three years, identify industry hot spots and opportunities for improvement in the attraction, training and retention of a skilled workforce. This research also incorporates a review of current employer practices in the selection, recruitment and management of apprentices. The survey was conducted with small to medium sized electrical contracting organisations in North Queensland. This research was conducted in partnership with the Electrical and Communications Association (ECA).

Paper 03 - Research Report for Skills Retention in Electrotechnology Trades

The purpose of this research report is to compile findings gained from the survey conducted in April 2009 with electrical workers of the Queensland Industry. This valuable research will inform workforce planning for the Electrotechnology Industry and the electrical trades of the Electricity Supply Industry. The research is less indicative of the trends for contractors working in the industry. This research was conducted in partnership with the Electrical Trades Union.

Paper 04 - Research Report for Apprenticeship, Skills and Training Needs for Electrical Contractors in South East Queensland

The purpose of this research report is to understand the apprenticeship, skills and training needs of electrical contractors in South East Queensland (SEQ). The research also incorporates a review of current employer practices in the selection, recruitment and management of apprentices. This research was conducted in partnership with the Electrical and Communications Association (ECA).
