Skilled Indigenous workers ready for employment
Energy Skills Queensland has 90 job ready Indigenous skilled workers available for opportunities throughout the State after participating in drilling, trade assistant and traffic control training programs funded by the Australian Government.
Providing job-ready workers is part of ESQ’s workforce strategy for the energy and resources industries.
ESQ’s Queensland CSG to LNG Industry Workforce Plan revealed the energy workforce is expected to peak at around 14,900 workers in 2024, more than double original assessments into future industry growth in Queensland.
ESQ delivered pre-employment and vocational programs to Indigenous workers to prepare for employment in trade assistant, drilling and traffic control roles.
ESQ workforce development manager Barry Crook said we know employers are seeking local skilled workers and there’s a particular demand for qualified indigenous workers.
“Through their training under ESQ’s Queensland Workforce Skilling Strategy, they have shown themselves to be reliable and have developed the skills industry needs,” Mr Crook said.
Employer incentives are available. This program is funded by the Australian Government.
