Download Funded Training Places Under PPP
The Queensland Government has expanded its partnership with Energy Skills Queensland to manage the delivery of an additional $8.1 million worth of training to job seekers and existing workers within the energy and telecommunications industries.
Under the Productivity Places Program, Energy Skills Queensland will broker funding to train approximately 1,250 more existing workers and 290 more job seekers over the next two years.
The level of demand from the energy and telecommunications industry in 2009 was such that the 675 training places made available through this partnership last year have been fully allocated. Enterprises within the industry contributed up to 40% of the cost of training to upskill their existing workforce.
Through this second round of funding, industry will make a similar contribution towards the delivery of high level existing worker training in priority areas such as electrical instrumentation, renewable energy, electrical supply and electrical engineering. The additional funding is also expected to expand opportunities for job seekers to develop skills in areas such as telecommunications cabling and electrotechnology.
Employers in these industries seeking to upskill their workforce or job seekers looking for careers in the energy or telecommunications industries should contact:

The Productivity Places Program is a joint initiative of the Commonwealth and State Governments to address higher-level skill shortages and increase workforce participation and productivity.
